Barcelona close to signing Marcos Alonso

It appears to be a transfer that can be pushed over the line.

Alonso has reportedly been asking to leave west London for some time, so he could get that wish after six turbulent years on Chelsea’s books.

The left foot deserves big credit for stepping in last season when Ben Chilwell suffered a long-term injury. Blues fans shouldn’t forget how crucial he was to the club’s Premier League title success in the 2016/17 campaign.

If he goes, it will be interesting to see what Chelsea do with the left-back spot.

Ben Chilwell, 25, is the first choice to play on the left of defense which is why fans are excited to see him back from injury.

Ian Maatsen, 20, who spent last season on loan with Coventry City, is a potential option to replace Marcos Alonso. He was spotted training with first-team players today on the first day of pre-season.
