Hanoi, August 19 (VNA) – The North-South Expressway will be equipped with an intelligent traffic system when it is put into operation to ensure efficient management and operation of vehicles, according to the Ministry of Transport.

The ministry recently instructed relevant offices to install the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) and a toll system for some sections of the highway in the east.

For five sub-projects invested in the form of private public partnership (PPP), the
Ministry of transportation instructed its Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships to consult the Ministry on management and operating plans as well as on the installation of terminal equipment and the selection of toll service providers to implement automatic non-stop tolling .

The ministry has instructed project management boards to review all technical design records and cost estimates for the ITS to update and quickly propose adjustments, the ministry chief said.

For three projects of Mai Son-Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay which changed the mode of investment from PPP to use of state budget, the ministry requires the Management Board of Project No. 6 promptly submit all ITS-related documents to Project Management No. 7 and the Thang Long Project Management Board.

In addition, Project Owner No. 7 was responsible for proposing and reporting to the Ministry on the investment plan for ITS software and the toll system for the three projects and progressively for all the motorway projects. from the east.

The Ministry’s Department of Science and Technology is responsible for reviewing and providing guidance during the process of implementing ITS and automatic non-stop toll collection.

The ministry asked the Vietnam Roads Directorate (DRVN) to propose projects on the operation and management of ITS system and toll collection, and the construction of regional operation centers for the sections of the highway in the east and others in 2021-2025. .

The DRVN will also determine capital recovery and state budget reimbursement plans for projects using state funds.

The north-south highway is expected to have a total length of 1,811 km, linking Hanoi and southern Can Tho city.

Ballast North-South Expressway The project includes 11 sub-projects with a total length of 654 km crossing 13 provinces and cities.

The 11 sub-projects are estimated at a total cost of VND 118 trillion (USD 5.04 billion), including VND 55 trillion (USD 2.35 billion) in state capital in three investment projects public, and matching funds for the other eight projects./.
